• Jaguars running backs coach Terry Robiskie entered the coaching ranks with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1982, with whom he held multiple positions for 12 years ( ), reaching the playoffs seven times with four division titles and a Super Bowl XVIII title. Through the first 14 weeks of the season, TE Darren Waller has been on a tear and is on pace for the first 1,000-yard season of his career, while currently ranked sixth all-time among Raiders tight ends for receiving yards in a single season. The Raiders get to stay home and host the Los Angeles Chargers on "Thursday Night Football" next week, who just pulled off a big upset victory over the Green Bay Packers. The Lions travel to Chicago to take on the struggling Bears, who just lost their fourth straight game to the Philadelphia Eagles. For whatever reason, the Raiders’ first encounter with the Chargers in 2019 takes place 10 weeks into the season. The Raiders will be in the midst of a three-game home-stand when the Chargers come to Oakland for the very last time.
Instead of firing a pass into the end zone amid pressure, Stabler meekly flipped the football forward and onto the grass while being tackled — allowing running back Pete Banaszak to recover it. The Raiders played the Steelers that afternoon in an AFC divisional playoff game at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium, beginning a rivalry between the franchises that would come to define the decade. The Raiders, who went 4-12 last season, already were scheduled to face the four teams from the AFC South and the NFC South as part of the NFL's matchup rotation, and of course, they'll meet their three regular AFC West opponents twice each.
Pick Six: An 'antsy' Nate Hobbs could return to the field this Sunday
On January 14, 2015, Jack Del Rio, the then-Denver Broncos defensive coordinator and former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach, was hired by the Oakland Raiders to be their new head coach. Del Rio's new coaching staff included former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave as offensive coordinator and former Vikings head coach Mike Tice as offensive line coach; both had worked with Del Rio at the Jaguars in the past. The Raiders began 2012 by losing a very poorly executed home opener on Monday Night Football to San Diego 22–14.
Waller currently ranks second in the NFL among tight ends with 880 receiving yards in 2019, while ranking third with 72 catches. No tight end this season has more yards after the catch than Waller's 417 through the first 14 weeks of the year. While Jacobs was incredible and the defense stood tall in the fourth quarter, we have to give credit to Carr. He threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns in the second half, both of those scores coming in the fourth quarter. After the Lions tied the game at 17 apiece, Carr orchestrated a nine-play, 80-yard drive that ended with a Foster Moreau touchdown. After the Lions tied the game 24-all, Carr again stepped up, and led the offense on a seven-play, 75-yard drive which ended with a nine-yard touchdown pass to rookie Hunter Renfrow.
Exhibit A: Fans started pointing lasers in the direction of the field.
LA Chargers finished ahead of Miami based on head-to-head victory. Oakland finished ahead of Indianapolis based on head-to-head victory. Oakland and Indianapolis finished ahead of NY Jets based on conference record.
The Raiders had withstood a few body blows from the Tennessee offense, but headed into halftime the score was all knotted up at and Derek Carr and Co. were set to receive the second half kickoff. Last weekend, through 30 minutes against the Titans, if you were a fan of the Silver and Black, you had to feel relatively good. All that said, I'll state the extremely obvious and remind everyone that the 2019 Oakland Raiders are a much better team when No. 28 is in the backfield.

It was announced on June 11, 2019 that the Raiders would be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks, premiering on August 6, 2019. Derek Carr takes a page out of the Lions playbook and hits his running back for 31 yards. What a bad decision though, double coverage and he just lofted it. Derek Carr's 289 yards and two touchdowns aren't going to stand out in the box score, but he was simply fantastic. Outside of Derrick Henry and Kevin Byard, there isn’t much to fear when it comes to the Tennessee Titans.
Gruden made a gutsy decision to call this fake on his own 38-yard line, and it ended up working out. On January 22, 2020, the team was officially renamed the Las Vegas Raiders and the relocation was completed in the following months. With a record of 9–4–1 in 1973, the Raiders reached the AFC Championship, but lost 27–10 to the Dolphins. "No one can ever take it away from you," Madden said of Oakland's Super Bowl ring. "In 1976, we won this ring, and it's always ours. But bigger than the ring is the memories. You look at it and you remember all those players, and not only the big stars, but you remember them all. How they sacrificed, what they did.
Game Preview: First primetime matchup of the season on deck for Raiders
The team was plagued by fumbles and dropped passes, and did not score a touchdown until near the end. On the bright side, defensive performance was decent and helped contain the Chargers' passing game. During a 1978 preseason game, Patriots WR Darryl Stingley was tragically injured by a hit from Raiders FS Jack Tatum and was left paralyzed for life. Although the Raiders achieved a winning record at 9–7, they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

After missing the playoffs each of the previous two years, many prognosticators had the Raiders finishing third in the AFC West and missing the playoffs for a third straight year heading into the regular season. The Bengals should be fighting with the New York Giants for the number one overall pick in the draft this season. Their first-round pick, Jonah Williams, is already out for the season due to an injury, and Andy Dalton is about as average as you can get in the NFL.
If Stafford had scored on that fourth-and-goal, Gruden would have received a good amount of flak for his decision. Another thing worth mentioning -- it's unclear if Thomas was the primary option on that final play. Sure, he has great size and length, but with options like Golladay and Jones, Thomas shouldn't be in the discussion.

Bill Callahan, who served as the team's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach during Gruden's tenure, was named head coach. In 1974, Oakland had a 12–2 regular season, which included a nine-game winning streak. They beat the Dolphins in the divisional round of the playoffs in a see-saw battle before falling to the Steelers in the AFC Championship. Just days before the game, the Raiders released wide receiver Antonio Brown, who was acquired via trade prior to the season, stemming from conduct detrimental to the team, including a heated argument with general manager Mike Mayock. However, the Raiders played well without Brown, as quarterback Derek Carr, wide receiver Tyrell Williams, and rookie running back Josh Jacobs all had strong performances, with the defense stifling Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco for much of the game.
Their finish to the 2008 season would turn out to match their best since they lost the Super Bowl in the 2002 season. However, they still finished 5–11 and ended up third in the AFC West, the first time they did not finish last since 2002. They produced an identical record in 2009; however, the season was somewhat ameliorated by the fact that four of the Raiders' five wins were against opponents with above-.500 records. At the end of their 2009 campaign, the Raiders became the first team in NFL history to lose at least 11 games in seven straight seasons. NBC would not make the same mistake the following month when the two teams met again in the AFL Championship Game.
The Raiders, who had not made significant changes to Gruden's offensive schemes, were intercepted five times by the Buccaneers en route to a 48–21 blowout. Some Tampa Bay players claimed that Gruden had given them so much information on Oakland's offense, they knew exactly what plays were being called. After winning nine games during their first three seasons, the Raiders went 10-4 in 1963, Al Davis' first season as the team's head coach. After a sub .500 season in 1964, Oakland responded with back-to-back eight-win seasons before breaking through in 1967. With Davis in his new role as part-owner and general manager, the Raiders went 13-1 while capturing their first division title. Against Houston in the AFL title game, the Raiders scored the game's first 30 points en route to a 40-7 victory and a ticket to Super Bowl II.
In a game that saw seven lead changes, it was the Raiders that would pull off one of the greatest victories in NFL history while ending the Dolphins' reign atop the NFL's food chain in the process. After cutting their deficit to four points, the Raiders faced a third and 18 from New England's 27 in the game's final minute. While Stabler's pass fell incomplete, the officials called roughing the passer on Ray "Sugar Bear" Hamilton, giving Oakland a fresh set of downs on the Patriots' 13 yard-line with 52 seconds left. Given new life, Stabler took full advantage, scoring the game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds left.
